Hey Sparkles! Happy Friday! For today’s Family Friday post I am writing about my time being a chauffeur for my granddad. A couple of weeks ago, I got asked by my granddad if I could drive him around for a day. I agreed and off we went.
First, we went to my uncle John’s house in Social Circle. We brought him some broken wrought iron furniture to fix from Granddaddy’s house and an old army cot that used to be my grandmother’s that had been in our shed before we cleaned it out. After we made the delivery, we sat on Uncle John’s front porch and visited for a while. We talked about his garden: the types of flowers, vegetables, and spices he was growing. He was growing tomatoes, oregano, lavender, and begonias. We also talked about this whole coronavirus situation, and how crazy it is that we have to be stuck at home.
After we left uncle John’s house, we were going to visit Granddaddy Mike’s cousin’s house, but we couldn’t remember which road the turnoff was on, so we went on to my Great Grandma’s house in Fairburn. Before we went to Great Grandma’s house, we stopped at Arby’s and got lunch: roast beef sandwiches, curly fries, and a drink. Yum!
After lunch, we made our way to Great Grandma’s house. Although she’s 94, she’s still a lot of fun to be around. After visiting for a while, we decided to shred her old address stickers, because she had a ton of them in her cabinet. Shredders are a lot of fun! You press the button and “grrrr,” there goes the paper. I am way too excited about that for a fifteen-year-old, but I don’t really care. I still love shredders.
By the time we were done at Great Grandma’s, we were well and truly done. Who knew driving for five hours in one day would tire me out so much? Being a chauffeur is hard work!
Well, that’s all for today, Sparkles. Be sure to tune in next week to hear about my behind-the-wheel driving lesson. Thanks for reading, and Sparkles away!
