Back to School!

Hey Sparkles! Happy Friday! For today’s Family Friday blog post, I am writing about going back to school.

This year, for the first time since I was in 2nd grade, my family will not be doing Artios. This is a big change from what we’ve always done. However, we have decided that teaching the little children to read is more important. As I already know how to read, I knew it was time for me to find something fitting for a rising sophmore to do. So, I decided to apply for dual enrollment. Dual Enrollment is a program that allows high-school students to attend college classes for free while still working on their high-school degrees. Free college sounds like a no-brainer to me.

First, I had to decide what college I wanted. I had to do one that didn’t require an SAT or ACT score, because I missed all the ones this spring. So, I filled out the paperwork for Truett McConnell University (even though I was about 2 weeks past the deadline) thinking I probably wouldn’t get in, but I got accepted! Then, I had to decide what classes I would be taking, and what I wanted to get a degree in. I took a look at all the different degrees, and I decided that Humanities was probably the best fit for me.

I have decided to take 3 classes from Truett McConnell this year: English 101, History 101, and College Algebra. Now, I must admit, I am not thrilled about taking Algebra, but my mother says I have to catch up on math sometime. Besides, I think you only need one math credit to get the humanities degree. If I take this and do well, I won’t have to take any more math.

In addition to my 3 college classes, I am taking a Worldview class taught by a pastor who used to teach it at Artios, but is now doing it with his church. I am also going to do the show Frozen Jr., that my drama teacher is running for all the former Artios students who want to do a show.

I found this really cool video with some awesome back-to-school hacks to show you.

Also, if you’re going back to school, you are going to need school supplies. Here is a link to all the things on sale on Amazon.com for school: https://amzn.to/2YjXACD.

Well, that’s all for today, Sparkles. Thanks for reading, and Sparkles away!
