Spring Cleaning in Quarantine
Hey Sparkles! Happy Family Friday! For today’s post, I am writing about my family’s spring cleaning endeavors this year.
Since we’ve been in quarantine for nearly two months now, we have started the process of cleaning out our house and our grandparents’ house to prepare for combining houses and finances. My family has lived in my house since before I was born. All I’ve known is this house and neighborhood. It’s kind of scary to think about moving. We’ve never really done spring cleaning before.
Although I have to say, I would love to live closer to my grandparents, even with them. My grandmother, especially, is excited, because it means we could play Monopoly all the time. In case you didn’t know, I love Monopoly.
Well anyway, as I was saying, we got a dumpster at our house and we are throwing out everything that we don’t use. We’re even throwing out our old couches. Sidenote: I looked up how long couches are supposed to last, and this website said 7 to 15 years. Well, these couches are 50 years old, so I guess it’s time to replace them. My Pawpaw slept on these couches when he was in the army 50 years ago. They’ve been through a lot of people.
Also, we’re getting rid of the fort and trampoline, which I’ve had in the backyard since I was little. It’s time; they’re falling apart.
I feel like a new chapter of my life is starting, and I haven’t figured out if I like it or not yet. Sometimes, growing up is fun, because you get privileges and fun stuff. Other times, you have to take on responsibility, and it’s scary.
The song “Days in the Sun,” from the new Beauty and the Beast movie is my life right now. “How in the midst of all this sorrow, can so much hope and love endure? I was innocent and certain, now I’m wiser but unsure. I can’t go back into my childhood, one that my father made secure. I can feel a change in me; I’m stronger now but still not free.”
Well, that’s all for today, Sparkles. This is what happens when I don’t pick a topic ahead of time; I end up ranting and rambling. Thanks for reading, and Sparkles away!
