Titanic Sinks

Hey Sparkles! Happy Monday! For today’s Monday Moment post, I am writing about the RMS Titanic sinking.

The Titanic is very famous because when it was built people said, “Not even God could sink this ship.” Because of this, the crew did not pack enough lifeboats to carry everyone off the ship. Then, on its maiden voyage, it hit an iceberg, and at 2:27 am, April 15, 1912, the Titanic sunk off Newfoundland, with the band still playing.

Between 1,490 and 1,635 people died in this crash, between crew and passengers. Many people did not realize the danger of the ship before it was too late. They all thought the Titanic was unsinkable. It just goes to show that you can never be too confident.

Because of this sinking, ships are required to keep their radios on to listen for distress signals, and there are now helicopters that report the position of icebergs to ships nearby. Also, ships are required to bring enough lifeboats to fit all the passengers on the ship.

If you want to know more about the Titanic sinking, you can check out some of these books on Amazon. Or, you can always watch the famous movie.

Well, that’s all for today, Sparkles. What did you think? I would love to know. Tell me in the comments below. Thanks for reading, and Sparkles away.
