Wicked Opens on Broadway
Hey Sparkles! Happy Monday! It is no secret I love Broadway shows, especially musicals, so I hope that this blog post makes you as excited as it made me when I realized what I would be writing about. Today’s Monday Moment blog post is on the opening of one of my very favorite Broadway musicals, Wicked.
Wicked opened on June 10, 2003, and is still ”Popular” today. (Yes, that pun was completely intended.) It has been running for 16 years now, to the day.
My first exposure to Wicked was when I went to a summer camp, and we did ”Wacky Warmups” to ”Popular” from Wicked. Then, I heard the songs ”Defying Gravity” and ”For Good, ” and I knew I wanted to go and see it.
Last year, when I got to go to New York City, I had the opportunity to go and see Wicked on Broadway. In my opinion, anyone going to New York City needs to put this on their list of things to see. It will be well worth the time and money.
My favorite song from this show, although I love them all, is probably For Good.
You can listen to it below.
The reason that song is my favorite is that it is a poignant reminder of how friends have influenced each other ”For Good,” and will always be friends, even when they are separated by life circumstances.
Well, that’s all for today, Sparkles. Let me know in the comments below what you thought about this post. And, if you liked the song above, be sure to register for Setting the Stage Summer Camp here: https://form.jotform.com/91054485283157. Thanks for reading, and Sparkles away!
